Oneil’s Bar
Pure Vent

Oneil’s Bar

Pure Engineering Group recently completed specialist ventiliation works in an underground level kitchen at O'Neill's Pub and Kitchen in Dublin. This is one of the city's oldest and most recognisable buildings, with a history dating back to the Viking era.

We ensured our custom-designed solution preserved the building's historic heritage while introducing the essential upgrades to meet the demands of its environment.

The scope of work included:

  • Pure Vent
    • Capture Vent extract/ fresh air canopies
    • Service distribution walls
    • Smart Vent intelligent controls
  • Pure Mechanical
    • Extraction system including fire-rated ductwork, high-temperature centrifugal box fan, inverter and potentiometer controls
    • Fresh air system including centrifugal box fan, inline filtration, inverter and potentiometer controls, integrated gas-firedired heater battery
    • Fire rated passive ventilation

The scope of work included:

  • Pure Vent
    • Capture Vent extract/ fresh air canopies are specialist ventilation hoods, with the purpose of removing heat, steam, grease particles and odours generated during cooking, while simultaneously introducing clean, filtered fresh air back into the space. This balanced approach improves air quality, maintains comfortable working temperatures and supports compliance with food safety and environmental health standards.
    • Service distribution walls are integrated wall systems designed to house and organise essential kitchen services, including electrical supplies, gas connections, water services and data points. This single structured layout, improves accessibility for maintenance, enhances safety and creates a cleaner, more organised working environment for kitchen staff.
    • Smart Vent intelligent controls, are advanced automated ventilation management systems that continuously monitor kitchen activity and environmental conditions such as temperature, airflow and equipment usage. The system automatically adjusts fan speeds and airflow levels in real time, ensuring optimal ventilation performance while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
  • Pure Mechanical
    • Extraction system including fire-rated ductwork, high-temperature centrifugal box fan, inverter and potentiometer control. This is designed to remove heat, smoke and grease-laden air safely and efficiently. It incorporates fire-rated ductwork to prevent fire spread, a high-temperature centrifugal box fan for reliable performance under extreme conditions, and an inverter (variable frequency drive) to regulate fan speed for energy efficiency. Potentiometer controls allow manual airflow adjustment as required.
    • Fresh air system including centrifugal box fan, inline filtration, inverter and potentiometer controls, integrated gas-fired heater battery. A fresh air supply system that introduces clean, filtered air into the kitchen to maintain balanced ventilation and indoor comfort. The centrifugal box fan distributes incoming air through inline filtration to remove contaminants. An inverter controls fan speed for efficiency, while potentiometer controls allow manual adjustment. An integrated gas-fired heater battery warms incoming air to maintain consistent internal temperatures.
    • Fire-rated passive ventilation. A fire-resistant ventilation system designed to prevent the spread of smoke and flames through ductwork during a fire. It maintains compartment integrity without reliance on mechanical fans and supports compliance with fire safety regulations.
