Centra, City Quays

Pure Engineering Group delivered kitchen extraction and ventilation works for Centra at City Quays, Belfast, supporting the store’s hot food and deli operation. Stainless steel extraction canopies sit above the cooking equipment, connecting to exposed high-level ductwork within the store’s open ceiling.

With food preparation visible from the shop floor, the installation combines practical kitchen extraction with a clean, coordinated appearance. The canopy and ductwork arrangement accommodates the cooking areas behind the customer-facing deli counter.

The scope of works included:

  • Stainless steel extraction canopies serving the deli cooking areas.
  • Baffle filtration within the extraction canopies.
  • Connected galvanised extraction ductwork.
  • High-level ventilation equipment with access panels.

Stainless Steel Extraction Canopies

Stainless steel canopies are positioned above the deli’s cooking equipment, providing collection points for cooking fumes, steam and heat.

The canopies follow the arrangement of the cooking areas behind the counter. Their stainless steel finish suits the surrounding kitchen surfaces and remains visually consistent across the open food preparation space.

Baffle Filtration

The canopies incorporate metal baffle filters to help separate grease from the extracted air before it enters the ductwork.

Removable filters allow access for routine cleaning, supporting the upkeep of extraction equipment serving a busy hot food operation.

Connected Extraction Ductwork

Galvanised ductwork connects the canopies to the high-level extraction route. Vertical connections rise from the cooking areas before joining the exposed ductwork above.

The installation works within the store’s open ceiling arrangement, where ventilation sits alongside structural steelwork, lighting and other building services.

High-Level Ventilation Equipment and Access

The photographs show Pure Vent-labelled ventilation equipment and access panels along the high-level ductwork run.

Access provisions are an important part of maintaining ventilation systems, allowing relevant sections to be reached for inspection and servicing. Here, the equipment remains visible within the store’s exposed services layout.
