Pure Engineering recently delivered a range of products and services at a premier business park Reading, in England. This large scale mechanical fitout project was part of a wider redevelopment investment of the site utilising off-site manufacturing processes. The project was delivered on time and to specification, to meet the unique design and workflow need of the client.
The scope of works included:
· FCU Replacements, decommissioned 36 existing fancoil units (FCU’S) and installed new, high-efficiency FCU’s with PICV valves, controls and condensate drainage- fully integrated with the existing BuildingManagement system (BMS)
· Ventilation upgrade, installation new ductworksystems (for both air supply and extract) and grilles while reusing compatibleexisting diffusers
· Implemented a complete 4-pipe heating/ coolingsystem with complete insulation package and custom supports, seamlessintegration with existing FCU’s
· Upgraded Comms Rooms, fitted two 5kW split ACunits with full testing
Our mechanical upgrade brought together heating, cooling, ventilation and dedicated comms room air conditioning, improving the building’s services while making use of compatible existing infrastructure.
For contractors, this approach means a coordinated mechanical package that considers how new installations will work with the wider building, helping reduce unnecessary replacement and providing lasting value for the end client.
Fan Coil Unit Replacements
We decommissioned 36 existing fan coil units (FCUs) and replaced them with new, high-efficiency units, complete with pressure independent control valves (PICVs), controls and condensate drainage.
FCUs provide heating and cooling to individual spaces. The new units offer more efficient operation, while PICVs help regulate water flow to support consistent temperatures and avoid unnecessary energy use. Integration with the existing Building Management System (BMS) allows the building team to monitor and control the units centrally, making day-to-day management easier.
Ventilation Upgrades
We installed new supply and extract ductwork and grilles, retaining compatible existing diffusers where suitable.
This supports the delivery of fresh air and removal of stale air throughout the served spaces, contributing to a more comfortable indoor environment. Reusing suitable components also avoids unnecessary replacement, helping manage project costs and material waste.
Four-Pipe Heating and Cooling System
We installed a complete four-pipe heating and cooling system, including an insulation package and bespoke supports, integrated with the building’s existing FCUs.
Separate heating and cooling circuits allow different areas to receive heating or cooling at the same time, where the connected equipment and controls permit. This flexibility is particularly useful in buildings where occupancy, equipment and sunlight create different temperature requirements across rooms. Insulation helps limit unwanted heat loss and gain, supporting system efficiency.
Comms Room Air Conditioning
We fitted two 5kW split air conditioning units to serve the comms rooms, with full testing of the installations.
Dedicated cooling helps manage the heat generated by IT and communications equipment, supporting a stable operating environment. For the end client, this helps reduce the risk of overheating and the disruption that can follow.
A Mechanical Package Built Around Your Project
For contractors delivering refurbishment or fit-out projects, the value lies in having these services planned and installed as one coordinated package. From equipment replacement to controls integration, Pure Engineering Group provides mechanical solutions that meet the project’s requirements and support the building’s ongoing operation.
